Ashley and Curtis had bought this home in their early 20s and had since had 3 boys and adopted 3 dogs!
Needless to say, they needed to move up! They had met with a mortgage lender who said that they couldn’t qualify for a mortgage loan, though, and were discouraged about the whole process.
I set them up with a mortgage lender that I really trust, and he gave them good news: not only could they afford a new home, but they had so much equity in their current home that their mortgage payment would be almost identical!
So Ashley and Curtis and I worked on getting their house decluttered first, staged, and ready for photos. Ashley was so pleased with how the photos turned out that she joked that she wanted to buy her house all over again! Once the house hit the market, it was priced so competitively that we had a lot of showings right away.
This is where it gets interesting. I got a phone call on a Saturday afternoon from a woman named Susan. She had found the house online and fallen in love with it; she wanted to know if I would be willing to show it to her and her husband. I said “Of course!” and met them at the house that evening.
Well, it turns out that Susan and her husband Bob had been looking for a home exactly like this one, and they fell in love! I was able to refer them to a good friend of mine and they made an offer on the house right away. Ashley and Curtis were stoked!
BUT we still had to find them a house! We redoubled our home-hunting efforts; Ashley and Curtis knew exactly what they wanted, it was just a matter of finding it. After a few more days of looking, they found a home that they loved and made an offer!
Once their offer was accepted, I walked Ashley and Curtis through selling their home and purchasing their new home at the same time. This was a good option for them because they didn’t want to move to temporary housing or have to pay two mortgages. We had both closings in the same day, and Ashley and Curtis had a whole lot of friends help them move!
Ashley and Curtis’ new home has a huge basement where their boys can play all they want, and a nice yard for the dogs. I loved going through this whole process with them, and I would love to help you too! If you or anyone you know is looking to move up, I would love to help you! Email me here, and we’ll talk!
